In response to what Blizzard describes as'showstopper' bugs appearing in the game, the long-awaited Season One Ladder for Diablo 2: Resurrected has been postponed. Since the release of Diablo 2: Resurrected six months ago, players have been eagerly awaiting the introduction of Ladder, a seasonal competitive game mode. It not only provides a compelling reason for Diablo 2: Resurrection players to return to the game, but it also introduces the first new content and balance changes to the game in a very long period of time. The reality is that upgrading an old game like Diablo 2 can be a difficult undertaking. Blizzard has decided to postpone the launch of Diablo 2: Resurrected's Ladder until late April in order to accommodate player demand.

A PTR update containing all of the new content was released in March, leading many players to believe that a full release would be available within a few weeks. According to the new release schedule for Diablo 2: Resurrected's upcoming content, patch 2.4 will be released on April 14, followed two weeks later by the launch of the Ladder on April 28. The postponed Ladder release should give developers more time to ensure that the game state is ready for a competitive environment before releasing it.

The Ladder and patch 2.4 for Diablo 2: Resurrected never had an official release date, and this is something that should be noted.

Blizzard was upfront and honest about the reasons for the delay, identifying three specific issues that need to be addressed on Diablo 2: Resurrected public test realm before the game can be released.

Specifically, two of the showstoppers had to do with database issues. For starters, a missing index in the database caused the joining and creation of games to be extremely slow. Blizzard has stated that the database error has been corrected, Diablo 2 resurrected items but that additional time is required to ensure that the fix is effective over an extended period of time. Second, several database errors that were specific to a particular region were discovered and must be addressed.

In addition, stashes were not properly converted to the new version of Diablo 2: Resurrected, which was a major issue that could not be tolerated by the community. Obviously, a bug of that nature cannot be released into the wild. In order to address this issue, as well as the database errors, Blizzard chose to delay the game's release in order to avoid a repeat of the Diablo 2: Resurrection fiasco, which would have resulted in the update being pulled regardless.

Blizzard has expressed regret over the decision to postpone Diablo 2: Resurrected.

The development team was absolutely committed to launching the new update and Ladder season on time. The decision to postpone will provide the development team with the necessary time to polish Diablo 2: Resurrected's Ladder, Cheap Diablo 2 Resurrected Items which should result in many more Ladder seasons in the future.

Expect to hear a lot more about Diablo 2: Resurrected's Ladder in the coming weeks, as Blizzard, releases some exciting community events and other revelations about the game's progression system. Even so, it's going to be a big occasion. It will only take place on April 28th.
