We are halfway through the year and still have a cart full of horse racing events on the horizon. Arguably the event with the most intrigue this year is the Breeders Cup.
The 2022 breeders cup top contenders are Flightline, Country Grammer and Life Is Good. With 22 first-place votes on Flightline, we expect this champion to win without question.
But there are more major horse races to get excited about too! Here they are in date order.
Hosted at the Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, England, this race is over 1 mile long and is open to all ages.
The winning total is Pound 875,000 this year (which translates to $1,038,533.12 in US Dollars). The winner will also be automatically invited to race in the Breeder's Cup Turf.
In West Sussex, England this 5-day racing event is a celebration of racing at its finest. It can be easy to assume this race is just one for the fanciful folk, but when you look at the winning prizes you'll change your mind.
On the third day, the Qatar Nassau Stakes will present the winner with Pound 600,000 ($711,801). You'll also experience the King George Stakes, the Stewards Cup, and the Goodwood Cup.
The York Ebor is an extremely popular racing festival in the United Kingdom, and it also has a far-reaching attraction as trainers from around the world compete.
In this race, you'll witness the Nunthorpe Stakes, the Darley Yorkshire Oaks, the Juddmonte International Stakes, and the York Ebor Handicap.
The York Ebor Handicap is the most lucrative handicap race in Europe.
In the Summer Celebration hosted in Sandown Park, you'll experience three races including the Solario Stakes and the Atlanta Stakes.
Hosted in Lancashire, England, the most important day of the Sprint Cup is the last. The third day includes the Betfair Sprint Cup, where 6 furlongs race at top speeds.
The St Leger Festival marks the final Classic race of the season. It is also the oldest Classic race still around today. Hosted in Doncaster Racecourse, the main event is the flat course - St Leger Stakes.
Moving away from UK races, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is a French race for thoroughbreds aged three or older. It is the most prestigious race in Europe and the second most lucrative turf race in the world.
Back in England, the Dubai Future Champions Festival is hosted in Suffolk England. It contains the Cesarewitch Handicap, the Darley Dewhurst Stakes, and the bet365 Fillies Mile.
The Melbourne Cup is the richest handicap race for a 2-mile stretch. Over 100,000 people show up for this race every year and it has become Australia's top racing experience.
Hosted on the Keeneland Racecourse in Kentucky, the Breeder's Cup is the biggest meeting of world-class horses. Breeders show off their prized horses in Grade 1 races which last 2 days.
The Breeder's Cup Classic is where most of the prize money goes. If you win this race, you'll take home $6 million (Pound 5,056,944).
In the November Meeting, the UK horses and the Irish horses go head-to-head, as the trainers bring out their stars of the season. This race is the first chance of the season for trainers to compete in major jumps.
The main races in this event are the Greatwood Hurdle and the Paddy Power Gold Cup.
This Pre-Christmas festival is a race for high jumps. You'll experience two days of high-class racers, jumping through courses such as the Tingle Creek Chase, the Henry VIII Novices Chase, and the Winter Novices Hurdle .
Another English-based race is the International. This event contains a myriad of events such as the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, the International Gold Cup, the Unibet International Hurdle, and the Unibet Handicap Steeple Chase.
The Christmas Festival is a highlight of the season. It contains the King George VI Chase as a trial or warm-up for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in the next season, which allows viewers, trainers, and jockeys to summarize their suspicions of the races to come.
During the two-day experience, you'll also witness the Desert Orchid Chase, the Wayward Lad Novices' Steeple Chase, and the Mare's Handicap Hurdle Race.
Although the majority of the big races this season have been and gone, we still have a lot to look forward to!
Keep your racing needs occupied with the events above as you wait for the Breeder's Cup to commence.
