NEWPORT BEACH, California: Chipotle Mexican Grill is ramping up hiring efforts ahead of its busiest time of the year, known as "burrito season."
The fast-casual chain announced plans to hire 20,000 additional employees between March and May to meet the seasonal surge in demand.
Despite economic pressures leading some consumers to cut back on dining out, Chipotle has continued to attract customers with its premium burritos and bowls. The company operates more than 3,700 locations across the U.S. and last year brought on 19,000 additional workers during the same period to handle the increased foot traffic.
"Spring is our busiest season, and we are preparing for the demand that comes with it," the company said in a statement.
Chipotle's revenue soared 18.2 percent in the second quarter of last year, driven in part by the return of its popular Chicken Al Pastor burrito bowl and the seasonal increase in in-store dining.
However, the company has taken a cautious outlook on its full-year sales forecast. Concerns over inflation and potential cost increases due to President Donald Trump's tariffs on imports could impact consumer spending and overall demand in the restaurant industry.
For now, Chipotle remains focused on its hiring push to ensure its stores are fully staffed for the spring rush.
